We’ve Got Your Back
Monday, September 1st, 2008, by Rickey PadgettI have been asked why do you feel there was a need for the Alliance? I will be glad to answer that.
Officers are faced each and everyday with making decisions on a moments notice just to be ridiculed and second guessed by those who were not at the scene of the critical life threatening incident. Even by associations who claim to represent them but are trying to find reasons to leave them hanging. When you make a decision you should expect and get immediate representation. You should never have to worry if an organization will defend you or how long it is going to be before your attorney arrives. Our thought process is simple. If the incident happens today, we want the attorney there yesterday. If your action is in direct duty of something stemming from your law enforcement functions we will be there for you!
Some organizations will tell you there are gray areas. They will also tell you that you need your Board’s approval. I’m here to tell you there are no gray areas and you should know up front what will and won’t be covered. You will know right away and will discuss your incident with an attorney if an action has been taken against you. You and your North Carolina Sheriff Police Alliance attorney will take the lead in your representation. The attorney assigned to you will look at the law and apply the law. He or she will give you the defense and advice you deserve. The NCSPA will not take the place of your attorney in critical times just to save money as other organizations do. Your protection is our number one priority and we will be there from beginning to end!
