I have been traveling around the state lately in an effort to recruit members. I have met a lot of officers across this state. I have been treated great in almost all of the places I have been. This treatment has reminded me that we are all part of one great profession, a profession that demands that we give a lot of dedication to it. It is insatiable in its demand for our sacrifices.  Yet most of us freely give our all. Most of us love what we do. Yet we don’t see ourselves as connected to a larger system.

The way that law enforcement is set up in North Carolina we are to a certain extent isolated from each other. We go about our jobs in our various jurisdictions oblivious to the troubles of our brothers and sisters across the state. However we are for the most part experiencing the same issues; issues that we can only conquer by working together. The North Carolina Sheriff police Alliance is working on these issues, but we need your help. We need you to join our organization. We are fighting for law enforcement in North Carolina. We are tackling the tough issues across the state. We are the most active association in the state. Just look at the newspapers and the TV newscasts across the state and you will see that we are actively attacking the issues that plaque our profession.

But in order to accomplish more we need to bolster our membership. The NCAE  membership is one of the reasons that it is able to accomplish what it does for our teachers. We can do the same for our law enforcement officers if we band together. Almost every teacher in this state belongs to NCAE. It helps them carry a lot of weight over at the state capitol. We can do the same. Their dues are more than ours by far, yet almost all of them belong to NCAE. They see it as a necessary occupational expense. We should also.

The North Carolina Sheriff Police Alliance can change the face of law enforcement in North Carolina. We can offer you the best legal defense plan of any organization in this state; a defense plan that can put a lawyer on the scene of a serious incident if you need one. We can offer you legal defense in any civil suit or criminal action arising out of your professional duties. We can offer you representation in any unfair disciplinary action arising from your duties. We can offer you legislation representation through our staff of lobbyists. We are the premier law organization in North Carolina. All you need to do is to join. You can belong to us and other organizations. We don’t ask that you drop other affiliations; we just ask that you join us also. We already accomplish more than anyone else, but we can accomplish so much more with your involvement. Let’s do what the teachers do, and consider this a necessary occupational expense. Let’s become one profession across this state. We can change this profession together.
